For the cost of a local (Pietermaritzburg) telephone call, you connect directly to our server. We provide you with an email address at SatWeb. e.g. Yourname@SatWeb.co.za.

With this connection, you also have access to the Internet.

Since our modems are analog, the maximum possible connection speed is 33.6 kbps. While at face-value this appears to be much slower than connecting to a digital modem (at theoretically up-to 56kbps), in real terms the surfing and download speeds are virtually compatible. In fact, since you connect directly to our server, mail is sent and received much faster than it is when using a web-based email system such as yahoo or hotmail.

As a subscriber to SatWeb the also have the option to have your own web page free of charge. (See the F.A.Q. for details)

Whilst offering the same features as the Local Dial-up, this option in addition allows dial-up to an 086 number. This means access at the cost of a local telephone call from anywhere in South Africa. It is the ideal solution for travelers and people situated outside the local Pietermaritzburg area.

Because of additional charges to SatWeb this option is around R 1.00 per day more expensive than the local dial-up.

(This option connects to digital modems capable of connections up to 56kbps).

ADSL Broadband is a 24/7 connection to the Internet. While generally more expensive than dial-up, it has the advantage of being at a fixed monthly rate, since Telkom does not charge over and above the monthly subscription each time you make use of the service. (i.e. there are no additional telephone-call charges to your account.

Generally, the speed of downloads and uploads are also much higher than dial-up connections.
